HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY!!!! She becomes a "young girl" today at the age of 2. And she'll celebrate this weekend by drinking beers and watching for her daddy and "uncle" Pitzen on TV at the NASCAR race in Vegas. See ya next weekend Emily for the par-tay!! Don't get too wild - at least go to Hickory Park for some free stuff!
The "sort of Lightning Dorks" beat the "sort of Brews Brothers" 5-2 last night - but the season total still resides with the Bros! I say "sort of" since only 4 of 6 bowlers were authentic members. Kahn's a perma-sub as I think he's rolled more games this year than I have. I'll be rolling next week most likely so stop on out if you want to see a professional 120 average roller!
I'd also like to welcome my Mother and Father to the wonderful world of American Idol! They are AI virgins so be kind to them. Now there are 35 million and TWO watching every week. As for last night, yeah - a few surprises in the final 12. Too bad Sabrina Sloan is gone, she was good. And I liked Sundance, but again - with the current methodology of voting, someone good is always going to go home early. But the best news is that the annoying Antonella Booba is gone!! AI-normal watching for me returns next week!
Concerts tonight and tomorrow in La Crosse - should be interesting but it's my final concert with them till October. I'm ready for a break... mainly from the driving.
Oh - and I might have a date tomorrow while I'm in La Crosse...... WITH A GIRL!!! AND SHE'S SINGLE!!! Shary's my best friend for helping me out!
Some more movies I forgot to mention yesterday:
Superman IV - The Quest for Peace - easily the worst of the Superman movies (and the final one with Reeves). This is the one with the "anti-Superman" that is made from the sun. Should have brought back Richard Prior. I'm now onto the brand new one that just came out last summer (with the Norwalk guy!!!)
Cider House Rules - of course I just finished the book so I had to finally watch the movie. It was ok, but definitely missed out some of the best aspects of the book. The role of Angel in the book is what makes it so deep - how Homer was an orphan and now he has created an unusual situation that potentially creates another one just like him. I enjoyed the movie, but as usual I recommend the book more!
The Illusionist - this was one of the better movies I've seen in a while. Has
Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti (not to forget the beautiful Jessica Biel). I really enjoyed the artistic element to the movie, as well as the very intriguing plot. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone some weekend.
Cyclones lost yesterday but had a good comeback in the 2nd half to take the lead. The women did win and are in the final game today... WE GOT GAME!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Haiku of the Day
Spring Break is on for
Most of the schools around here
Mine starts in one month!!
Entertainment of the Day - the final day of this Journey Non-sense! In Pat's words "Friday we'll end with the grand daddy of them all". I can only assume he was meaning "Faithfully" so that is today's FINAL Journey song that you will ever see me post here at BigShow's Blog.
Weblink of the Day - A funny video of the greatest moments from THE ROCK... The Great One! For all the wrestling fans of the late 90s out there! Ignore the YouTube warning... not sure what their problem is. Just hit "confirm" and start laughing.

No mention of Stoen's 600 series? No mention of MY 700 series?
Some darn good bowling last night. We lost a couple of battles to you this year - but we are heading for the championship of the league! Which should make you appreciate that your Bruised Bros team was able to take so many games from us this year.
Oh, and quite calling us dorks! Nerds is fine, studs is better - but enough with the dorks!
I really like the Illusionist too, and I agree with your evaluation of Superman IV! Best of luck with your date in La Crosse!
Wish I could bowl a 700 series! My all-time highest score is 185, and my average is more a pathetic 140 so it's best I don't bowl with you any time soon!
