Sports Update

This is the good time of year - NHL and NBA are entering playoff mode, March Madness is down to the final 4, NASCAR is in 2nd gear, and the WNBA hasn't started yet.

NHL - Red Wings won last night so stay on track to try to claim the best record in the league. Pretty impressive considering they lost Yzerman and Shanny this year. Big game Thursday at Nashville who is tied for points against Detroit. 6 games left then the best time of year begins - STANLEY CUP PLAYOFF TIME!!! Expect some late nights watching 3 OTs! The Wild are on a record setting pace for the franchise. As it stands though, the Wild will play Detroit which means my loyalty lies outside of my home state.

NBA - There are about 11 games left for most teams. The 72-10 record by the legendary Bulls is safe yet again, although Dallas is making a statement trying to hit 70 wins. The Timberwolves are most likely missing the playoffs yet again. The Bulls and Heat are charging this time of year for a strong playoff run. Only 3 teams that are sub-.500 currently in playoff positions. Just means there are too many playoff teams.

NCAA - Men's tournament is a strong final 4. If I get a UCLA/Ohio State (sorry... THE Ohio State) final and then OSU winning it all, I win at least one of my 3 brackets. A strong showing in the other 2 if that happens. After this weekend, we start talking college football again... which means Cyclones new coach and tailgating talk can begin!

NASCAR - The "Car of Tomorrow" dominated the talk at Bristol. I think they're just a bunch of whiners, honestly. Gordon is 1st in points over all after another good weekend. Everyone is saying that Jeff Burton "did the right thing" by not bumping Kyle Bush out of the way on Sunday. I think he just didn't want to win enough... how many former Nextell Cup winners would have found a way around bush? Another short track this weekend at Martinsville.

Tennis - French Open starts Memorial Day weekend!

Golf - The Masters starts next week and runs all of Easter Weekend.

Mexico is 15 days away.... got your sunscreen? Ok ok ok - let's start with an easier question.... does everyone have their passport????

And yes Erin, I have a T-Shirt quilt with all of my High School shirts. I'll take a picture and post it for your amusement sometime. It has my Euchre Society shirt, Co-Ed Naked Euchre, all the Concert Choir shirts that Chad and I came up with, Orchestra, and some of the Mu-Da-Co ones that I bought. Only shirt I lost was the funny Madrigal shirt from senior year that had the "follow the bouncing ball"... not sure what happened to that one.

Haiku of the Day
"Family Jewels" is back
Season Two with Gene Simmons
It's on A & E

Entertainment of the Day - Last night at Abs class, she was playing what I considered "worst music to listen to in Abs class"... Walk the Dinosaur came on and she replied "this is one of my favorites... anyone know who sings this?" I replied "Was (Not Was)" and of course I was right. Brings back some horrible memories for some reason.... probably because the song sucks.

Weblink of the Day For Claire - one of her "favorites".

Was your ab instructor impressed by your knowledge of music - both good and crappy? I bet she'd go out with you after answering that correctly.
