After Day 1 of some NCAA action, I'm 12/16 which is probably the norm right now. I've only lost one of my sweet 16 (yes, I picked Duke but since they lost, EVERYBODY wins since EVERYBODY hates Duke!) Not like I picked Boston College to make the final 2 or anything like some people might have done.
Congrats to my cousin Cari who had her baby yesterday. I couldn't hear the message very well last night from my dad so I'll have to dig for more details today. Another Dickinson in the world now - and on the IDES OF MARCH!!
And Happy Birthday tomorrow to Rob - the Green Baby!
Some sad news to pass along.... Houghton's our favorite Irish drinking establishment in La Crosse has burned to the ground. This was a regular stop for us as musicians after our concerts with the La Crosse Symphony. Very fond memories of closing that place down (and many times still driving back to Rochester even after closing) and of Eric doing the backstroke on the floor. Simply amazing if you've never seen him do that. So this weekend, raise those pint glasses high and have a toast for Houghtons!!
And speaking of Irish drinking establishments, of course this weekend is St. Patrick's Day who was of course the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patty's day has turned from a religious oriented holiday into a public (and unfortunately a Hallmark infested, commercial, money making holiday for big corporations) holiday full of celebrations. It's the one day of the year where everyone wants to become Irish. For those in Rochester, do NOT go to O'Neils Pizza Pub to celebrate. We did that one year and they ran out of Guinness at 9pm and I will never forgive them for that. Matt and I were pretty pissed (not because we really needed any more Guinness, but just the fact that an Irish bar runs out of the good stuff on the biggest of Irish celebrations).
My plans for St. Patty's Day? We'll be in Ames/Des Moines for Mr. Eddie's Bachelor party weekend! Less than a month till Mexico so we're celebrating on the best weekend imaginable. Plus there may or may not be a birthday party in Ames to attend. Don't worry mama, we'll be on our best behavior for the 2 year olds. The dark side of us doesn't come out till 7pm or so!
Happy St. Patty's Day - Have a good weekend!
Haiku of the Day
Green Beer or Guinness
Celebrating St. Patty's
NO Irish Car Bombs
Entertainment of the Day - You can't talk about an Irish Holiday without mentioning U2. I don't think I've mentioned them for a little while now so I'm over due! I'll be listening to them today, in addition to some of the Irish drinking music I have from my trips to Ireland. Let me know if anyone wants me to send them some of this good stuff for their enjoyment. Beware though, makes you want to go out for a pint!
Weblink of the Day - Pretty simplistic page but you can input just about anything and it tells you how much it sucks or rocks. They could have just put SUX. I just remember in high school was how it was WE RULE, YOU DROOL. That didn't last long. BTW - per this page, Cheerios has a higher rating than does sex.... but keep playing with it.

I'm not sure exactly how the criteria work for that Sucks/Rocks page. Aparently, Lithuania (9.4) rocks as much as artichokes (9.4). Here's something interesting, "wives" receives .2 on the scale, while "my wife" receives 9.9. Hmmm...
