Did you catch it last night a little after midnight? Some people call this the "first day of Spring" - but if you want to sound intellectual (works well on the ladies you're trying to pick up at Barnes and Noble or the Library), you say that today is the "equinox". You can push the borderline nerdy and say that "equinox" is derived from the Latin words aequus (equal) and nox (night). Basically the sun is traveling exactly over the earth's equator so the time above the horizon is equal to the time below the horizon. So NOW you can say the days are getting longer. For more information, visit the almighty Wikipedia page for the Equinox.
British Invasion Night on AI last night. My mom said her vote is for Chris Sligh and Melinda Doolittle (although I don't believe my mom to have voted, nor have I ever seen her send a text message... I could be wrong). Here's my order after last night:
Melinda - She's a natural, but I don't think she'll sell a ton of albums beyond her opening single assuming she wins AI.
LaKisha - Like Wheeler said, she's great at doing Bond songs (a lot of the songs last night could have been Bond songs).
Blake - Interesting rendition that I enjoyed
Chris Sligh - Pretty darn good - he'll get the older votes... if older people vote
Chris Timberlake - Still trying to look like Justin
Jordin - I guess she's good, just boring
Haley - she was lookin' smokin hot! Hopeing the "first on" isn't going to hurt her. I did vote for her;)
Sanjaya - Even though everyone hates him, he'll be around... look at the bawling girl and you'll see which demographic represents probably 50% of the voting every week
My bottom three
Gina - Tongue piercing girl wasn't so good this week
Stephanie - she isn't standing out, although she's not half bad
Phil Stacey - My vote to be going home this week. Those goofy ears!
Paula was horrible as usual. Someone mentioned that she might be bi-polar which could be. Interesting interview with Simon Cowell on 60 Minutes this weekend - worth a view if you're a fan of the show. I still hate Anderson Cooper. Peter Noone and Lulu were a little over the top last night... especially watching Peter clap. That made me laugh. Still too much crying for me last night.
Britney's out on the loose again today... lock your doors and make sure your kids are home by dark! And if you see her, do not take immediate action - find shelter, call 911 and say your prayers. Britney - CALL ME!!
Haiku of the Day
One, Two, Three, Four, Five
One, Two, Three.... stupid seven...
One, Two, Three, Four, Five
Entertainment of the Day - Some of the AI songs last night were ok. Not a huge fan of the British Invasion, but only Chris Sligh's version of "She's Not There" was something I would listen to again. Nobody pulled out The Monkees which would have been my first pick if I were singing. I think I have some of The Monkees around here somewhere.....
Weblink of the Day - A nice new song that shows off the power of the Wii and makes fun of the PS3. Truth is hard to admit sometime. I did download Elevator Action and Excitebike last night so come over anytime to play!
