I finished Barack Obama's book The Audacity of Hope last night. I really enjoyed it, not only because I think he's a powerful leader and I am hoping he's our next US President - but because it was well written and is truly inspiring in a time when so many people have lost faith in our government.
He's respectful of the presidents past - he's also knowledgeable about the founding fathers. I guess I'm excited to see an "intellectual" take a run at office that isn't snooty about it. Kerry tried the intellectual part but due to his incredibly way too much wealth, he wasn't able to relate to middle class America. Obama is only 45 years old which seems very young for a politician, but I think his youth will play to his advantage. We talk about in leadership class the power of youthful ignorance - when you haven't been around long enough to know "just how it has always been done" and have enough energy to want to try to change things around you. That's what he addresses in his book is how he sees the world today, the stories of people that we can relate to in one way or another and how he sees the federal government's role in helping these people.
He's critical of Bush (which I think almost every politician, Republican or Democrat) is now a days with elections coming up. But he offers solutions on how he would change things or how he feels the future of America should be. He's also critical of the current antics of government - both to the left and to the right - and how split it has caused this country to be. With his hope and desire to take the US back to the leading country of the world, I am hopeful that there is someone that can get this country back on track. I have yet to see another candidate that can do so.
And with that - I officially declare the support of BigShow's Blog to Barack Obama for President 2008!!! Do I win anything?
As for yesterday's unusual events - there was an unexpected death here at work that was very shocking news at 7:30am. I'm hoping these weird happenings are over with for a long while. Not sure I can take any more surprises!!
I am caught up on The Apprentice now - a very shocking week as well for the stronger of the two teams. I actually liked Derek and think he would be good on the final week where old fired candidates are brought back. And Jenn was a good worker as well (as well as being cute) - just not strong enough leader to win this thing. I'm rooting for Heidi still (the "Hottie" as well as being one of the better candidates on the show) and am still hoping that Frankie is the next to go home. That guy really annoys me.
Down some more weight as you can see on the right. Problem is that my new dress shirts are too big now. Hoping to take them back and see if I can at least exchange them;) I should have a good weigh in tomorrow morning and then Friday for the contest that I'm determined to win!
Haiku of the Day
Libby is Guilty
Not really a shock to me
He's just a scape goat
Entertainment of the Day - Tonya has today's Journey request (is this week almost over yet????). Tonya had the duty of holding the spotlight Friday night while we shoveled and pushed the car. So appropriately her request for today is Lights and a couple of videos to enjoy. One of the real thing and of course one by a wonderful tribute band! I think this kid's better than Steve Perry!!!!
Weblink of the Day - Put hair on Britney (quick game). And if you want additional things to keep you occupied today: See how well you can fly a paper airplane!!
