Welcome back! And a huge get well soon to Kristi!
March Madness is in full swing after the brackets came out yesterday. I think I'm done with my picks and I hope to get back to my winning ways after taking last year off. I have two unusual trophies sitting on my desk from a group here at work that I hope to reclaim my title as "greatest basketball picker person" or whatever you want to call it. It also means that Thursday afternoon might be a worthless time to be working..... so where we all going to watch some games?
I'm done playing in La Crosse for the season. This weekend's concerts went.... ok. It's always scary playing a piece that we know is NOT ready to be performed. Kind of like getting on an airplane while the maintenance crew is working on replacing an engine, or the wing. You have no idea if you'll get there as intended. But we made it through the Copland somehow and now I have 6 months off. I might be playing one more concert in April with the Austin Symphony - haven't fully decided yet.
Reality TV updates.... Final 12 sing tonight on American Idol. Now you only have to give up 2 nights per week (and the Wednesday night one is just the results show - tape it and you can clear it in about 8 minutes). I still think the judges should vote to the final 12, then America should vote for the person they want to go home every week. I think it'd weed out the wasted talent faster. And we're down to 9 contestants on The Apprentice. Surya was fired even though he had a lot of energy and drive. I think it was the right call, but I still don't think Arrow can win against the powerful girls of Kinetic. I'm still rooting for Heidi!!!
And last night was the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for REM and Van Halen. Eddie Vedder inducted REM who reunited with Berry, the original drummer. Then came Van Halen, without either of the Van Halen Brothers.... or David Lee Roth. Only Sammy Haggar (who represented the decline of Van Halen in many of our "expert" opinions) and Michael Anthony showed up for the induction. Velvet Revolver did play in their honor... that's pretty cool!
Haiku of the Day -
No Iowa State
To cheer for in the tourney
Still root for TIMMY!!
Entertainment of the Day - REM sounds good for today. I guess it's technically "R.E.M." but it's faster the other way. I have 9 of their albums, but they have 13 all together I see. My favorite song is Nightswimming and best album is easily Monster. You is another good song (playing right now).
Weblink of the Day - McDonald's are now carrying Pepsi!!! Not that I go to McDonald's, but it's about time someone started opening the door for those of us who hate Coke.

Eddie Van Halen is in rehab right now. That band has turned into a soap opera.
