Go Red Wings! They (barely) won last night with a miracle needed. Who says pulling the goalie doesn't work?
And Chris and Phil go home on Idol - as was predicted here yesterday. The early Vegas line has LaKisha going home next (remember, there's only 4 left and my "other" prediction today is that all 4 will record albums).
So I've always had a fascination with skyscrapers - mostly at how impressive they have become and continue to get higher and more "modern" looking. I am not a huge fan of heights but I do enjoy going up on observation decks and seeing everything you can see from the top of these mammoth buildings.
I found an article yesterday that talks about some of the newer skyscrapers going up around the world and there is the incredible Burj Dubai building that is planned for completion in late 2008. Here's an image of what got my attention perked "real quick" when I was at their webpage:
I have always enjoyed seeing Taipai 101 which was the record holder at 508 meters... well now Burj Dubai will be in at a whopping 808 METERS!!! This does of course include a 540 foot antenna/spiral on top. For anyone doing the math, that will be a 60% increase over the current record holder! That's an incredible way to beat a record of such magnitude. Some rumor webpages say that there are now plans on building it to be over 1000 meters tall (a 100% increase).
Another interesting building, while not as tall and in a different "non-oil" part of the world - the Millennium Tower World Business Center is being built in Busan, South Korea will be 560 meters when completed... interesting picture of it found here.
I still brag about how the CN Tower in Toronto is the tallest freestanding structure in the world (not a "building" so not on the skyscraper list) and has the highest elevation for public toilets (don't think I used them... will do next time I'm there). I can say "I've been there and had dinner at the top of the thing!). 553 meters tall if you were wondering (observation deck at 446 meters).
So was that worth the wait? Tonight is the first night of golf league at Meadow Lakes here in Rochester - Tomorrow is Friday... life is good!
