Final 4

American Idol wrap on the final 4. Everyone did two performances so we were back in the rushed mode all night which I found annoying. Plus it was BeeGees night and I realize how I really don't know as many Bary Gibb songs as I thought. I recognized two only, but I actually really enjoyed the music overall. In performance order:

Melinda - I thought she did well, but she also has such a high level of expectations set every week. In comparison, she's still a natural compared to 90% of the overall competition. Judges were critical because that's what they are getting paid for.

Blake - I actually enjoyed his performances because he brings the uniqueness and appeals to the folks that will be buying American Idol records (12-30 year olds... mainly the females). I recognized this song. Plus did anyone else get a good laugh from his interesting smirk when they do the contestant "flyby" at the beginning of the show? That alone should bring him back.

LaKisha - I KNOW THIS SONG... Very nice changed rendition - I would have been scared of doing this song and trying not to sound like I was singing it at a wedding. LaKisha has an interesting and powerful voice that she can show off. While I still think she won't have the fan support to stick around, she'll still have a good record. Just don't sing anything from Dreamgirls!

Jordin - She's the tallest person on stage!! Taller than both Blake and Ryan! Definitely gets the award for "most improved" in the competition and I now think it's hers to lose. She has the AI appeal that the judges are looking for too. "Greatest female recording artist"?? I doubt it but who knows....

Melinda Take 2 - I thought her changing the lyrics to avoid saying "loser" was interesting mainly because they dwelled on it with the preview thing and in discussion... so the point of doing so was pretty much null.

Blake Take 2 - boring song, but a nice spin on it that I thought he pulled off fine.

LaKisha Take 2 - I wondered who would be the first to show signs of exhaustion of singing twice in one night (not to mention the double amount of rehearsal they have experienced in the past week) and it was definitely LaKisha. I think that fact alone will send her home this week.

Jordin Take 2 - Another one who showed signs of exhaustion at the end of her song, but I still think her first song makes her the frontrunner in this thing.

And for you non-American Idol people out there (all 5 of you in the US) - I finally got my invite for Joost which is a new internet TV program. It's pretty sweet mainly because it has a GI Joe channel and a Transformers channel where you can watch over 20 episodes of each... "on demand"!! Seriously, how cool is that. They also have a cool classical channel that I've been keeping up while working at my desk to watch some performances of Tschaikovsky's Violin Concerto and Holst's Planets. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you an "invite" to download. Here's a full channel list to view over and convince you to try!

I'm out the rest of the week - so have a good weekend! See you on the flip side!!! BTW - I should have over 20,000 hits in the next day or two! That's pretty amazing when you think about it. It's the same 30 or so folks per day and I thank all of you for returning daily to hear my pointless ramblings.

Haiku of the Day
Joost has "Adult Swim"
Also Comedy Central
plus Ren and Stimpy!!!

Entertainment of the Day - What else do you need besides GI Joe, Transformers, Ren and Stimpy.... but if you're still wanting "more", how about a Mac vs PC commercial done by Southpark? And yes, it rips on both Operating Systems and is pretty justified in doing so:)

Weblink of the Day - 20+ of the strangest gadgets that you will see today.... some are intreguing! All are unique!
