Already Wednesday

I like shortened weeks like this. Already "humpday" and I'm not tired of work yet!

So my nerdish qualities may come out today - but make sure you read the whole thing before you judge me on that. I recorded two shows on the History Channel on Monday night that were in sync with the 30 year anniversary of Star Wars. I watched the first one last night which was Star Wars Tech which talks about the extreme science of the space movie and asks how realistic is it. For anyone who is a fan of science or technology, this show spends an hour examining the realistic possibilities of what George Lucas put into his movie. I was a little disappointed with the first part which had scientists acting disappointed in the movie since there would be no sound in space of ships flying by, no explosions with no oxygen in outer space, and no smoke when a ship gets blown up. Fine, I kind of already knew that. But how far away are real droids? Not as far away as you think. My favorite part was when they showed how the robotic hands of both Darth Vador and Luke are already being used. Currently they have 5 different motions controlled by brain waves, but within a couple of years, prosthetic hands will have 25 different motions all controlled by brain and upper arm muscle movement. They also talk about Plasma and how it could be used in the future to develop the "la-sers" that are used, or even a light saber..... pretty interesting and I recommend it! I also taped the Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed which is 2 hours and I'll start it tonight. I think this one focuses less on the science behind the movie as it does the story of Good vs Evil.

Mario Party 8 is out for the Wii and next on my "purchase" list once I get time to do more shopping. Looks like there are a lot of mini games to play with 4 people... and now that I have 4 Wiimotes.... Good times by all! Any other games to recommend? I did do some Mario Cart 64 last night and I can beat all 4 cups now at 50cc.... working my way up to the grand master 150cc - give me some time! Stupid Penguins keep getting in my way.

The American Men fared 0-8 in the first round of the French Open! Wow - not too good guys! Big upsets for some, not so big for others - but now they can focus on the grass court season ahead. French Open is always the hard one since there are so many clay court specialists and it's such a different surface than the other ones (grass and hardcourt mainly). That's why you see some of the greatest of all time having never won the French Open (Sampras and Federer... for now). Makes Agassi's accomplishment so much more unique.

Haiku of the Day
Ending month of May
Enter the heat of summer
Ready for the Fall

Entertainment of the Day - I watched Epic Movie which is another movie spoof - this one focusing on The Chronic (WHAT?!?)-als of Narnia but glimpses of other movies. Has Kumar in it and there was even a quick mention of his White Castle movie! It's funny if you're in that mood for something strange but make sure you catch all the other movie references - some are subtle.

Weblink of the Day - No wonder Miss USA didn't win the Miss Universe Pageant.... she slips and falls on live TV!!!! Funny!
