HAPPY THURSDAY!!! My favorite day of the week because it means the weekend is very close, but it still allows for productivity at work. On Friday, people are usually pretty worthless and I hate getting the assignments at around 3:00 on Friday afternoon. I don't mind getting them on a Thursday.
First night of Golf League (at Oaks) was pretty successful considering it was my first time out this year. I shot a 52 which isn't great, but I'm happy with it for the first night. No lost balls! I only had one penalty stroke (dang water on 9) and I could have easily knocked off 3 putts and 2 chips. That would be a 46 which would have been a much better score. Something to shoot for for next year! I was happy that for the first time in my life, I was on the green on 10 in 2!!! Never done that before and will never get that chance again. I three putted for a 5 btw on 10.
So Ambiguously Gay Ace is gone from American Idol. That should be no shock to anyone, but what was shocking was seeing Chris in the bottom 2!!! What the..... I have a bunch of conspiracy theories, even though most of them are wrong. Like the show putting someone in the bottom 2 just to get more people to vote for that person the next week. Roommate-Adam had a good idea of voting for the person you DON'T want to see the following week. This is a good idea because it would focus the voting power to get rid of the weakest person rather than splitting up all the votes of people actually voting for talent rather than who's cute. Also split up all the country listening people who continue to vote for Kellie even though she was by far the worst performance on Tuesday. I would love to argue differently with anyone out there so bring it.... After Tuesday, I have them ranked: Katharine, Chris, Elliott, Taylor, Paris, Ace, Kellie. Since Ace is gone, obviously I think Kellie should be gone next.
World Cup fever is approaching with the first match June 9th. I do admit to loving watching the World Cup because it is so much more of a diverse and worldly audience than any of our American Sports. Most people in the US could care less but it's a sport that is not full of drug-doping over-paid cry babies. Most want to win the cup for their sense of national pride. We don't have that much in this country.
One thing that is starting to annoy me is junk mail. I don't get the telemarketers much and I think that National Do Not Call thing might actually work. But I get anywhere from 2 to 8 credit card applications a day. I hate how the more debt I pay off, the more applications I get. That makes no sense whatsoever! I've heard ideas about doing a "return to sender" on all of them and mailing them back, but last night - Matt had a good idea of opening them up and returning the empty envelope that is prepaid back to the company. That forces the company to have to pay for that postage, plus they will have no idea where it came from. So I think i'll try that. It takes an extra minute out of my day and it won't really decrease the amount of junk mail I get per day, but maybe I'll sleep better:)
Song of the Day - I still think I'm the only person in the world that likes to work out to Classical Music. Seriously - I think it goes faster with a longer piece of music that I know inside and out than it does with a bunch of pop music that is overplayed. Today I had a great run to Tschaikovsky's 5th Symphony - the final movement (no, not bowel movement... that joke is getting old!) I was able to get a full mile in today at 10 minutes, 40 seconds. Need to shave another 40 seconds off, but that's a good start for a fat guy like me! My goal by the end of the summer is a 5k run (3.1 miles) in 30 minutes. Remember, I have an extra 150 pounds on most of you people that have run their whole lives!
Video of the Day - I almost forgot about the Easter 2006 Movie.... we pulled out some old school Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade to watch. That was 1989!!! I feel old yet again:) There are still plans to film a 4th movie with Spielberg and Lucas behind it, and Harrison Ford on screen. I'm excited to see yet another victory over the Nazis!!
Webpage of the Day - This is unusual. Playboy is coming out with the Girls of the Big 12 for this Fall and are recruiting at all of the schools (any Iowa State readers out there that want to pose???) Baylor (which is traditionally conservative) has issued a statement that any enrolled women that pose for the magazine will be "dealt with". To me, that's crossing the line.

I must thank you for the thursday blogs/AI recaps, as Jamie will only allow me to watch one evening of it a week! As for the returning credit card applications, my grandmother came up with the same idea. It would be a nice fun way to spend a few minutes and chuckle at yourself for what you are about to do!
Want to reduce those offers of credit. Check out the following trusted government website...
