Gas Went Down 1 cent! YAY!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to my friend Tonya. She had surgery yesterday and word late last night was that everything went well and she is recovering just fine. Tonya is the world's biggest fan of Ace from American Idol and somehow he's still around.... just for her. I'm sure he dedicates tonight's performance to you Tonya! Get well soon so Hazel has someone to talk about shopping with!

Rehearsal tonight for our final concert of the season. Tickets are always available if anyone is interested in coming. It'll be NEXT weekend in La Crosse. On tap is some really good music that will be recognizable from anyone that's watched Television over the past 50 years. Tschaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture is a fun piece to listen to and this will be my first time playing it. I know the love theme is used in many movies and commercials so everyone can sing along! I remember off hand that it was used in Bond's Moonraker when Jaws and the Jaws-ette find each other on the space station after thinking they lost each other. It's a great work based on Shakespeare and you can hear the different parts of the story - the fighting, the lovers, the gloom that foreshadows the lovers and their fate, and of course the death at the end.

We're also playing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue which is also in commercials for I think Delta. Or is it United? I can't remember but it's another recognizable piece that mixes Jazz and Classical for Piano and Orchestra. Again, this will be my first time playing the piece. We're also playing an overture by Dvorak which is big and loud! Plus a world premiere of a jazzy piano concerto that we don't even have all of the music for. I hate playing premieres with the composer sitting in rehearsal because it just means that there will be a lot of mistakes in parts to spend time on correcting and arguing with the composer what the note should really be. It really is frustrating to play a new piece since you have nothing to base it on. Or is that "bass" it on? Haha!

I also thought this webpage was extremely interesting and it makes me aware that I do the same thing when I read pages. Not that I design web pages, but something to keep in mind for anyone that does web development! I tend to agree with the findings. I'm more curious in the heatmap tracking capabilities!! Do they put "la-zers" on people's eye balls to see where they are looking??? Can we get some sharks with freak-in "lazer beams" please????

Song of the Day - Tonight is Rod Stewart night on American Idol.... so in honor of Stewart, I pulled out all the songs I have by him and came up with...... um..... what does he sing? I seriously think the only thing worse than Rod Stewart Night would be Michael Bolton Night! There was nothing wrong with it.... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. Best use of the term "ass clown" EVER!!

Video of the Day - A good use of the parking brake to do what else??? PARKING! This is a good skill to learn:) It still doesn't compare to Pitzen parallel parking the 15 passenger van in Milwaukee with one hand on the wheel and one hand talking on his cell phone. That was still one of the more impressive things I've seen!

Webpage of the Day - GM spends $17 million on erectile dysfunction drugs! Seriously! Those NASCAR commercials are paying off for the companies! I'm always amazed at how many Viagra and Cialis commercials there are during races. What are they trying to say???

It is no wonder then why Pitzen and Jamie are such HUGE fans of Nascar!!

Lots of comments popped into my head today:
1. That F shape deal makes a good point- I'm going to the next search result if I don't find something interesting within the first few seconds.
2. Nice Office Space reference. I never thought that movie was funny until the first time I saw after getting a real job.
3. Growing up on a farm learning to back up "livestock" trailers makes parking a piece of cake.
4. Why is GM buying paying for all of those non-essential drugs? I'm not sure, but I'll bet it has a lot to do with aggrements to the whiny, over-paid UAW. Also, Jill is a mean person.

Rod Stewart is cashing in on the nostalgic songs, as he's now released 4 volumes of the American Songbook themed albums. I think he's struggling for songs though, because on the last album there is a duet of "Makin' Whoopee" with Elton John. Is it just me that finds that amusing?
