Today is the commemorative day of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. His work for striving for equality in America is unmatched in my mind in our country's history. He's become a role model for so many and an example of how to get things changed peacefully. I wish we had a modern equivalent of him in the 21st Century that again we are faced with challenges in this country that don't get addressed. Our government can no longer be looked to when seeking role models, we need another figure like King to show us patience and forgiveness.... virtues all of us should have. I find it amazing how kids no longer aspire to be President of the United States, or even working in other governmental positions. And when you ask most people about government, it's usually a distasteful one.... what's happened? And now we have over priced athletes being our role models just because they can sell out and appear on TV more than the other guys..... interesting, isn't it?
And to celebrate his legacy.... Israel fires missiles into the Gaza strip at Abbas' compound.... great, just great. Too many idiots running the world right now.
Anyway - congrats to Florida on their ass whoopin last night of.... doesn't matter. Nobody ever remembers the 2nd place team. In the minds of most people though, nobody really cared who won and I have a feeling that most of the ratings will be a lot lower than in the past with bigger named programs.
Red Wings won last night as well in a shootout. Yzerman got yet another goal in his amazing career. Detroit also tied the NHL record for most road victories in a season with plenty of chances to break that record. They're clicking on all cylinders right now which is good for getting ready for the upcoming playoffs.
And Augusta is this weekend in the golf world. Fun watching professionals play the same course every year with such different results.... ahhhh, the joys of golfing! Any early favorites???? besides Tiger of course.
Song of the Day - Obviously today's song is U2's Pride (In the Name of Love) in honor of Dr. King. I just read that Stevie Wonder wrote a song Happy Birthday for Dr. King as well. Interesting, interesting.....
Video of the Day - We keep on chugging through Hitchcock movies. We viewed The Birds which was just strange but still good. I kept laughing at a young Jessica Tandy though. She drove herself in this movie (even drove a boat across a lake on her own) so no Drivin Miss Daisy..... We also watched Notorious (no B.I.G. in this movie) which I enjoyed but it wasn't a typical mystery suspenseful movie that we usually associate with Hitchcock. It had Ingrid Bergman in it (she was quite attractive... even for black and white) and Cary Grant. Not sure which one is next but we still have a ton to go!!
Webpage of the Day - Someone's list of the 50 Greatest Independent Films. I was relieved that I've seen more than half of the films and all but one of the top 10. Interesting read (and quick for those that actually work during the day)
Have a great Wednesday! AI on tonight and I'm actually voting this week.... who for? Find out tomorrow!!

how fitting- now you have a picture of yourself giving the peace sign talking about MLK Jr. you're right about the role model point too. I'll bet you're more excited to vote for AI tonight than you are voting in Nov. for a ballot of idiots
Good point Pitzen.... 35 million people vote for AI every week, do we get 35 million people to vote for presidential races?
Yeah - Mean Streets... not even sure I've heard of it. Bad Taste looks pretty gory but also says it took 4 years to film. interesting....
no pics of the baby yet? Jamie said he enjoyed your call on Sunday! I only wish I could have been there to enjoy it!
