Sorry for the delay in posting yesterday - the blogger site was down most of the morning. It finally came back up around 11 but the blog was finished by 8am as usual! I shouldn't complain since it is a free service for me, and a free service for you. I will have to start charging when I go syndicate someday... after I'm famous. You can say you remember when reading my daily antics was free of charge.......
Congrats to Matt and Jessi here in Rochester who are now expecting. A mini "stud" is on its way. Or "Stud-ette"
It's a cloudy Tuesday which can only mean one thing.... AMERICAN IDOL FINAL 6!!!! My early prediction is for Elliott to unfortunately go home even though I think he's final 4 material. But tonight's theme is love songs so in honor of this theme, I came up with the following suggestions for our contestants:
Chris - this was an easy one... Every Rose Has its Thorn by Poison. What American Idol watching human being doesn't love that song?
Paris - I Will Always Love You by Whitney (and some other country hillbilly band. Was the country the original or was Whitney first? I divert all country questions to Pitzen. But Paris has the pipes for this one.
Kellie - She'll probably sing Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray (Eddie's Favorite Guy in Jeans) but I think I'd rather hear Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) by the Crue.
Taylor - Night Ranger's Sister Christian.... just because I want to hear Sister Christian sung for some reason.
Elliott - I'm thinking some classic songs (done once by Harry Connick Jr. of course) like It Had To Be You or I Only Have Eyes For You might be pretty sweet.
Katharine - She could really rock the competition for the 2nd straight week with this genre. Not sure what to suggest for her - maybe More Than Words by Extreme? I'm sure it will be good whatever it is.
Too bad Ace is gone, because he'd be perfect to pull out When I'm With You by Sheriff..... Ah the roller skating memories.
Gas is back up yet again... this is funny more than it is sickening at this point. $2.89 in Rochester which is below the national average. The government seems to think it will do something about it but I'm not sure what they can do. They seem to only be saying that since mid-term elections are coming up. I say we vote them all out of office and start over but what do I know? I do know that the folks in office do not pay for their own gas, it comes out of tax money so what do they really care? Most have no idea how much things cost at the grocery store since they haven't had to shop for their own groceries in a long time. It's pretty pathetic how removed our "representatives" are from the majority of the people in this nation. There's my political soap box of the day.
Rehearsal again tonight in La Crosse. Final concerts of the year this weekend and there are still tickets available. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you more details. There's some good music being played and a super cute bald bass player to check out the whole concert.
Song of the Day - Queen's Under Pressure was on at the RAC this morning. I always laugh at how it is "mostly the same" as Ice Ice Baby BUT I do remember the interview with Vanilla Ice who said it was so very different because of "one note" in the bass line. I can better explain this in person. I did not realize that Queen collaborated with David Bowie to record Under Pressure. Good thing - otherwise where would Robert Van Winkle have stolen his bass line from?
Video of the Day - I watched Blues Brothers (not to be confused with Brews Brothers - the kick ass bowling team) and forgot how many famous people are in that movie. Including (but not limited to) PEE WEE HERMAN!!! Seriously, he's a waiter at the restaurant in one of the scenes. What a great classic movie though.
Webpage of the Day - Gasbuddy shows the national gas prices by county. Where do you rate? There's a lot of green in Wyoming!!!!

scroll down to the "USA Gas Price Temperature Map" on the left side on gasbuddy.com. I think it's a little behind though. I can't find anything for less that $3.14 out here.
Emily's right about Dolly Parton, but it was 1974 on her Jolene album, and yeah I have it. Sorry, didn't mean to correct you Emily, but had to prove my hillybillyness to Adam. Whitney ruined the song to by the way.
Whitney's version is the quint-essential high school dance slow song! I'll take that over Dolly any day, thanks.
