WalMart

My experiences at WalMart last night.

* I spent $3.50 on supplies for BeerPong for this weekend. Yeah, you heard correctly. The greatest BeerPong table that Ames has ever known (thanks to BoyWonder and his magical tools.... of the building type) will be returning to Ames. Hazel has promised to school everyone at the art of throwing a ping pong ball into plastic cups (orange cups... they were on sale from Halloween).
* It was the day after Halloween and they already had Christmas candy out. I don't remember that being there last week, but it's there now. I asked the kid working with the Christmas candy if he could check in back for the some of the Valentine Jube Jells that I love so much. He just kind of stared like I was an alien. I know I'm handsome, but please... stop staring. I just turned and walked away.
* I always struggle at WalMart to find a basket. Single guys don't use shopping carts when they go to WalMart/Target. Carts are ok at HyVee or Liquor stores (yes, been there done that), but that's about it.
* There should be a 20 item limit at the self checkout lanes. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a self check out (fast and convenient) if all 4 lanes are held up by people that are scanning their next 3 months worth of groceries.
* I was NOT greeted by anyone when I showed up. I want a letter of apology from management.
* I also did not see the smiley dude "rollin' back" prices.... or is that "Hollaback prices" (Kahn's favorite song). I was waiting by the ping pong balls and the price failed to change in the 2 minutes that I stood there.

That's all I gots to say about that. I'm usually a Target guy, but Walmart was "on the way". Plus they ALWAYS have ping pong balls (for beerpong) - Target is a hit or miss for them. Yes, I know this because I have purchased a ton of ping pong balls through the years.

My last day of work for the week. I'm on vacation tomorrow to prepare for tailgating on Saturday. It's a big occasion! I don't really care about the game, but it'll be nice to see everyone in the 40 degree day!

Song of the Day - I had something else until I saw this morning's headlines.... PRINCE IS PERFORMING IN VEGAS!!! I think it's time to go back to Vegas... anyone? anyone? So I have some Prince running this morning.... Take your pick!

Video of the Day - U2 and GreenDay video for "The Saints are Coming".... pay attention to what is really going on in the video and of course, the sign at the end. You Conservatives - BEWARE... you'll probably not like it.

Webpage of the Day - iPod Etiquette.... also applies to cell phones in my opinion.

Thanks for the laugh! I needed that this morning. I am definitely in for Vegas and Prince...I love them both. Can't wait to see you and Hazel in Ames this weekend! - C -

Does anyone else ever wonder why U2 is always getting into U.S. politics and they are not U.S. citizens. With all the strife and violence in Ireland, shouldn't they be tackling some of their own problems before interfering over here? .............Dad

Someone has to care about the problems in this country.... the current White House Admin obviously doesn't give a crap.

I haven't played beer pong in over two years. You and I made a solid team.

Good ol' Walmart. Have they managed to drive all other retail business out of Rochester yet? Did you see anyone working there between the ages of 18 and 65? On a brighter note: the tailgating party sounds fun! I haven't been to a tailgating party since... well maybe ever! Lawrence University didn't have much of a football team so we didn't do too much tailgating to that games... hmm, we didn't even go to the games! Actually, for the homecoming game the conservatory students would assemble a pep-band to play traditional pep-band tunes. It was tough finding arrangements of those tunes for violins, violas, and cellos! The oboes would usually just double up on the trombone parts, nice eh?
