That's "Coach Chizik" To You!

New ISU coach was named last night... Gene Chizik (as in "you got to Chizik..... Chizik good" - or is that "whip it"?) comes to Ames after being the defensive coordinator/assistant head coach of Texas Longhorns. I welcome someone that has large program experience! I also welcome someone from a proven program such as Texas. And I also love his statement how he's not going to be content with 5, 6, or even 7 wins.... Sights are now set at winning the Big 12 North and probably more!!! I think Chizik will also bring in some good recruits from the south that seem to help!

Welcome Coach Chizik... if there's anything you need from me, just ask! I'm here to serve my Cyclones! Just please don't run "Draw up the middle" on 3rd and 23! Throw that play away!

So VH1 had their "Top 100 Songs of the 80s" in the past month and I thought I'd comment on that list. Granted it's VH1 which is not 100% my taste in music, more like 60-70%. And this is NOT videos, just the songs. I only list the top 50 for you. The 2nd 50 isn't nearly as interesting.

My color codes for reference.... RED means the song is way too high on the list, GREEN means the song is way too low on the list, and BLACK means I'm ok with where the song is on their list.

(75) "Little Red Corvette" Prince
(83) "Kiss" Prince

I remember one of the times that Henry Rollins came to speak in Ames (free motivational speaking)... he said that Ratt's only hit was "Round and Round" and that it was one of the rock songs that appealed to both the guys and the girls. The Girls liked the fruity part of the chorus and would always sing ROUND AND ROUND but then the guys come in with their air guitars singing the 2nd line: With love we'll find a way just give it time. He's right!

Song of the Day - With so many songs to choose from on the list above, I'm still listening to some more modern stuff. I have been listening to the new Chili Peppers 2 CD SET as of this weekend. Good stuff considering the band had broken up for a brief period of time before recording this album.

Video of the Day - I watched Jack Black's Nacho Libre which is definitely one of the more unusual movies I've seen in a while. It is over all pretty strange, but there are moments that will make you laugh pretty hard. You have to be in the right mood though! Bring on Tenacious D!!!

Webpage of the Day
- This guy was awake for what he says was 5 days waiting for the Wii to come out. He's not all there. Wonder why his girlfriend isn't there in line with him?? I'm glad I didn't have to wait in line for mine:)
