Congrats and welcome to Owen Reed! It's finally the boy we were all hoping for the past 3 years!!! I'd suggest bringing him to Taiwan for a visit, but that would violate last week's rules of traveling with little ones. I wish the newest Cyclone Fan and his family all the best!
I'm hobbling around this week in the 94 degree heat. It's about 50% humidity so far, but the morning heat is what gets me. It's usually already 86 degrees by the time I go to catch the train at 7am. But I'm also hobbling around since I have 12 stitches on the bottom of my foot after this past weekend! The doctor convinced me to get the wart situation over with and just cut the whole thing out. Since I am tired of the other things we were trying (and Mayo clinic was of NO help last week when I was home), we had the thing cut out on Saturday morning. Left me the whole weekend crippled and unable to really walk - lots of time for Mario Kart Wii. But the big chunk that he took out is no more, and I'm actually walking much better day to day already! I should be walking normal by this weekend and then get my stitches out next week! Chicks dig stitches and scars right????
But my drugs and "surgery" have caused me to have weird sleeping habits this weekend and week already. I was up at 2:30am Monday morning, so I watched an unusual movie from the "British Collection" I'll call it - by the same guys that did Shuan of the Dead - Hot Fuzz is pretty funny, especially at 3am for some odd reason. If you like that strange 2000 version of British humor, then you might actually like this movie. A lot less gore than there was in Shuan of the Dead.
The big talk now is regarding the Olympics. We're still about 3 weeks away, but the travel advisories for Asia are ludicrous - basically saying "avoid China till after the games are over". So I think I will do that. What originally was intended as an "opportunity to see the Olympics" is now my thought of "avoiding the mess" and watching it on TV.
In other sports - All Star Game tonight... with the host of the World Series at stake. Not sure how that is supposed to be "fair" but it's been that way for a while now. The MLB All Star game is the most frustrating due to WAY too many players being selected, causing players to only get 1 at bat, or a pitcher only getting to pitch 7 pitches for one inning of work in the 3rd inning. Just doesn't really resemble baseball. But I will admit, the extra points in the NFL All Star Game in Hawaii are funny to watch. Nobody even gets in the 3 point stance:)
