What a great weekend.....
Started Friday night with the Cyclones emphatically declaring the state of Iowa as CYCLONE COUNTRY!! We took down all the state opponents now by beating the over-rated Pukeyes by 12 points! How were they ranked 13th? Reminds me of their football situation where they were ranked top 10 and couldn't hack it against the Kick-Ass Clones!!
I was at a Holiday party with the lovely Hazel and her coworkers from St. Mary's. That was also a good time but someone was a little too heavy on the 80s nostalgia music. I usually don't associate parties in December with Bon Jovi and Def Leopard. Then Saturday I left first thing in the morning to go to Ames for the rest of the weekend. Ever since college, a couple of us go back to Ames for Easter and Christmas performances at my good friend Chris's church where he is the music director. It's a lot of fun and we're at the point where most of the music we play is stuff that has been performed before so it's no longer site reading:) It's always good to see "the crew" of Chris, Nate, Calhoun, and now their lovely wives Sonia and Martine. Martine and I are running for President and Vice President someday. She can be President, I could work for her. Just remember this blog - you heard the declaration here first!
Yesterday saw a victory for the Vikings and unfortunately a win for the Packers in OT. Still a couple of great football left the next couple of weeks!! I did pull in 28 points in my pick of the Seahawks over the 49ers. I should have said 38!!! And Regie Bush won the Heisman and should start thinking about his future in Houston playing for the Texans.... Too bad they'll have a decent quarterback and now a great running back but still no Offensive Line to save either one!
And I am now convinced that Hazel is the coolest girl on the planet. Not only is she cute and amazing in so many ways... but yesterday she brings me not one... not two.... but THREE accordions that her mom had at the house!! So my new thing is to learn to play the accordion! Two of them are way too big to begin with (they have 120 buttons which I don't need all the diminished chords for beginning) but the third is perfect! I was already toying with some basic polkas last night to the major annoyance of my roommate. Wait till next Oktoberfest.... party at my place!
I'm getting a late start today so I'm wrapping it up. Yes... I'm going to China on Sunday. Still have to book my trip but I'll continue to update as the week progresses and of course will continue to blog from China!!
Song of the Day - I'm hoping the Journey hoopla is dead as it should remain. Still can't believe Pat paid $70 for those tickets! For some reason I have We don't need another hero by Tina Turner from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome going through my head. It's a great movie from the start of Mel Gibson's career and everyone will recognize the song from the 80s. Should have played that Friday Night at the party along with the other throw back songs!
Video of the Day - With the Death of Richard Pryor this weekend, I present the 3 movies that every person should commit themselves to seeing asap if you haven't already. Brewster's Millions, The Toy, and See No Evil, Hear No Evil will all make you laugh and realize how much talent he really had. Most will remember him as a junkie and vulgar comedian but his Live StandUp was a pioneer in the standup comedy areas. Go laugh - it's what he would have wanted....
Webpage of the Day - iPod Underwear... yes, I'm serious.... And Pat, just enjoy the picture (I know you will)
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!!

Did they play any Journey at the party? It just wouldn't be a party without Journey.
Accordions now? Weren't you going to learn the guitar at some point?
Roll out the barrels and we will have a barrel of fun........ Dad
Get it? That should be an easy one to start on
